Make it Matter empowers artisans living in remote, rural areas or with challenging circumstances by providing them with a platform to reach customers beyond their local communities.
More than a retail store, Make it Matter works with the makers to build their brands, provide business insight, co-design products and connect them to technology, markets and business networks.

Make it Matter invests in artisan groups and uses a revolving fund mechanism to help them have a more secure income every month. Make it Matter’s point of departure was to find a solution that provided artisans with a regular income so that they can plan a future that is safe, secure and free from poverty.

Measuring Success
To date, Make it Matter has worked with more than 95 artisan groups and independent artisans, comprising of 2,000+ makers in Tanzania alone. More recently their work has extended beyond borders and has replicated the same social impact model for artisans living in Swaziland, Rwanda, Malawi and Zimbabwe.
Whether the artisans are located in Zanzibar, Lilongwe, Mutare or Morogoro, Make it Matter finds creative and innovative ways of connecting them to their flagship store and bringing their product to market.
